After his comments about the state of Israel made headlines earlier this year, Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng sparked a social media frenzy after he berated Covid-19 if it is “destined to corrupt” the People’s DNA.
Addressing staff at Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital on Thursday, Mogoeng closed with a passionate prayer for frontline workers and the country amid the second wave of Covid-19.

“Whichever phase is said to come, Lord, I judge it, I analyze it with the name of Jesus. I block all the demons of Covid-19. I block any vaccine that is not yours.
“If there is any vaccine that is from the devil, intended to infuse 666 into people’s lives, intended to corrupt their DNA, any such vaccine, Lord Almighty God, that is destroyed by fire,” he said.

The sentence has sparked reactions on Twitter, with one user claiming that the Chief Justice should become the new pope.
