Liverpool will face Spurs in the Premier League on Wednesday night as their injury woes continue.
Bad luck grew in the last days after Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Friday that both Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas were injured against FC Midtjylland in the middle of the week.
The Premier League champions have had to deal with a number of blows this season, including significant absences from Virgil van Dijk, Thiago Alcantara and Joe Gomez.
Klopp is just one of the Premier League coaches who has expressed his disgust at the decision not to allow five substitutes in each match to manage the fitness and well-being of the players.
The Reds are next in action against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in the Premier League.
That game starts at 8 pm on Wednesday night.
Here are the most recent updates on Liverpool’s injury list, including full details on when they are expected to return.
Diogo Jota
Jota will miss about two months of action after sustaining a knee injury last week.
Speaking before the game against Fulham, Jurgen Klopp said: “The first thought is, it’s better than we thought, so after all, after potential surgeons saw it, there was no need for surgery, but it will be out for a while. time. while. “
Joel matip
Matip was forced to retire at halftime during the 1-1 draw at Fulham due to a back problem.
After the game, Klopp said: “Joel has a spasm in his back.
“We will see. He will receive treatment and we will see. I think there will be an opportunity to [Spurs on] Wednesday.
“It’s not that bad at the moment.”
Kostas tsimikas
Recently back from injury, like Jota, the full-back was ready to be evaluated before the game with Fulham after taking a hit on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
When Klopp gave an update on Jota yesterday, he also mentioned to Tsimikas: “We don’t know exactly [on Jota], but yes, a month and a half, two months [out]. We don’t know exactly. It’s similar with Kostas Tsimikas by the way, amazing. “
James milner
The midfielder limped off with a hamstring problem during the 1-1 draw with Brighton at Amex Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp confirmed the injury before the Ajax game and said that Milner was no closer to returning before the Fulham game.
Naby keita
Keita was not in the call-up against Fulham, absent due to a physical problem.
It remains to be seen what the situation is with the midfielder before the Spurs clash.
xherdan Shaqiri
The forward added his name to Liverpool’s absences last month after scans revealed he detected a muscle problem while with Switzerland.
“How do I know, Shaq had a little muscle injury with the national team that he didn’t realize and then he trained with us,” Reds boss Klopp said after his team’s win over Leicester.
“We gave him a day off and then he came back and was involved in a session, but he wasn’t fully involved, he just did a little bit.
“After that it felt a little bit and then we did a scan and they found it was an injury from five or six days ago.
“Nobody knew about it, not even Shaq knew about it. That’s the way things are sometimes. So he couldn’t participate. “
Shaqiri was absent from the team that faced Fulham on Sunday.

Thiago Alcantara
Thiago missed Leicester City and Atalanta while not included in the call-up to face Brighton, Ajax, Wolves or Fulham.
The midfielder was photographed at the new training ground last month but is expected to remain on the sidelines until January.
Joe gomez
Liverpool defender Gómez has undergone surgery on a tendon in his left knee.
Gomez underwent a successful tendon repair operation after sustaining the injury during training with England the day before.
“[It is] a difficult one, but the surgery was successful, so now he’s already recovering from surgery first and then rehab begins, “Klopp said.
“He’s with his family, so I’d say he’s in the best possible place. That is, practically. Rehabilitation has now started.
“After surgery we count backwards and help as much as we can, but for the first few days all children after surgery probably feel quite lonely.
“But when you have your family close, and that’s the case with him, then he’s the best he can be, that’s all.”
No timetable has been set for Gomez’s recovery, as Liverpool are not ruling out the possibility that the center-back will play again this season.

Virgil van Dijk
Liverpool will be without Van Dijk for most of the season, at the very least, after he sustained a serious ACL injury against Everton.
He underwent a successful surgery in London, but Liverpool are reluctant to set a deadline for his return.
However, he has already been photographed working with the club’s coaches inside the gym.
Van Dijk is likely a bit far from resuming ball work on the fields, but the footage will undoubtedly be a boost for a Liverpool side that have been plagued by injury problems all season.
