Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has said it is “difficult to blame” his former club for contacting Mauricio Pochettino about the manager’s work at Old Trafford.

United travel to Merseyside to face Everton on Saturday, with Solskjaer under pressure to achieve a positive result.

Berbatov continued, calling the match a ‘must win’ if Solskjaer is to have any chance of keeping his job.
“Everton on Saturday is now a great game for United, and I think if they lose this, it will probably be the point where they look for a new manager,” he said.
“They are 15th in the table, they could be lower depending on other results if they lose on Saturday, and that is not acceptable for a club like United. It is a must win for United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.”
