- Andile Lungisa, of the ANC, has called on the provincial party structures to call the coordinator of the Nelson Mandela Bay regional task force, Luyolo Nqakula, to order.
- Lungisa was sent a letter notifying him of the intention to suspend his membership in August.
- He claims that Nqakula is in cahoots with the district attorney.
Andile Lungisa, member of the ANC and former vice president of the youth league, has filed a complaint in which he appeals to the party secretary in the Eastern Cape, Lulama Ngcukayitobi, against his imminent suspension.
In a letter seen by News24, Lungisa accused the coordinator of the regional task force (RTT), Luyolo Nqakula, of colluding with the provincial leader of DA Nqaba Bhanga to overthrow the ANC coalition government in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Last month, RTT sent Lungisa a letter asking him to resign as an ANC councilor and branch member.
Nqakula also informed Lungisa that the decision was made to request the provincial executive to suspend his party membership.
Lungisa, who enjoys influence in the subway with the support of various ANC branches, told Ngcukayitobi that he found the letter informing him to withdraw as a suspect.

He accused the RTT of harassing him after he was acquitted of charges of discrediting the party’s image.
He wrote:
“Now, after 28 days, I am being persecuted, harassed, purged and subjected to a sin of double jeopardy, all in the name of our glorious movement.”
Lungisa claimed that Nqakula had sent him a letter informing him to resign, as the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) was meeting to discuss corruption issues.
He said the letter was sent even before the NEC ruled that those found implicated in wrongdoing should step aside.
Lungisa is currently fighting to have her sentence for aggravated assault lifted. He was convicted of assaulting a district attorney alderman with a glass jug during a heated council meeting in 2018.
I even wonder if the letter is a decision of the RTT because it would be regrettable if the communication from the Secretary [Ace Magashule] Asking ANC structures to submit names for processing was wrongly interpreted as a power of the RTT coordinator to arbitrarily suspend ANC members without due process not even invoking the deployment of public representatives and the right of membership to serve. in their branches. “he said, adding that Nqakula had jumped with the gun in the results of the NEC meeting.

Lungisa’s was one of the names that the provincial leadership pointed to in its report to the NEC.
Magashule has ordered the provincial secretaries to register a list of names of people implicated in crimes.
In its report, the ANC in the Eastern Cape said that it decided to remove Lungisa from being a member of the mayoral committee and that he had “challenged” it and chosen to appeal the revocation to national officials.
“This was denied and he was accused of rebellion and alleged ignorance of the dismissal instructions and offered to present his resignation immediately. The provincial disciplinary committee accepted his resignation.”
‘A clear display of orchestrated anarchy’
In response, Nqakula said that the accusations made by Lungisa were the product of his imagination.
He added that the fact was that the ANC was not the absolute political authority in the council and therefore did not have a 50 + 1 majority, so it reserved the right to participate and pressure parties around certain positions he held at a particular point in time, as he did at the December 5 meeting, where he led the process of trying to stabilize the administration by appointing executive directors and appointing an interim city manager.
“In any case, it is Lungisa who has proof of having signed a petition from the district attorney in the last place, which was destined to remove the then mayor Bobani. It was him and four other councilors, they had to receive instructions to withdraw their signatures.
“What was done in the regional office is a clear demonstration of orchestrated anarchy, it is no coincidence that people mobilized to disrupt the ANC one day after a letter was sent to Lungisa.
“As such, we have submitted a report to the provincial leadership in order for appropriate action to be taken against those who have acted in a way that is not consistent with ANC discipline,” Nqakula said.
Members of the region’s branch protested at the regional headquarters in August to demand the removal of the RTT.
He added that it was inaccurate that the letter to possibly suspend his membership in the ANC was sent to the media, saying: “The RTT has asked the PEC through its structures to promulgate a certain provision of the constitution, this was done guided by the understanding of the ANC constitution that certain powers reside with certain structures as per the ANC constitution. “
