Two Cape Town policemen were killed.
- Firearms belonging to two murdered Kraaifontein policemen were found during a raid in Khayelitsha on Thursday night.
- It was learned that a female passenger found in the police van at the time of the police killings he was seriously injured during the attack.
- One count of attempted murder has been added to the two murder charges against Mxoleleni Sikhala, 32, who was arrested shortly after the killings.
Western Cape Police have located two missing service pistols that were confirmed to be the firearms of the two murdered policemen who were killed in an ambush at Bloekombos in Kraaifontein last weekend.
The police officers, Sergeant Mnakwazo Mdoko, 46, and Mninawa Breakfast, 28, were on patrol on Phumla Street, Bloekombos around 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, when their patrol vehicle was attacked.
Both Mdoko and Breakfast were pronounced dead at the scene. Their official firearms had been stolen.
A female passenger who was also in the police van at the time of the shooting was seriously injured during the attack.
On Friday, it emerged that police found the two firearms during a raid in Khayelitsha on Thursday night.
The intelligence-led police operation resulted in the arrest of nine suspects for possession of firearms without a license in Khayelitsha.
Two of the firearms found have been positively identified as belonging to the murdered officers.

Police arrested 32-year-old Mxoleleni Sikhala shortly after the killings.
The National Tax Authority (NPA) previously said that a count of attempted murder was added to the two murder charges against Sikhala.
He appeared in Blue Downs Magistrates Court Tuesday on two counts of murder, attempted murder and aggravated robbery. His case was postponed to next Tuesday.

At a funeral for the officers killed Thursday, Police Minister Bheki Cele said he was aware of the woman who was in the police van at the time of the attack.
“We are currently investigating that. It is true that there were three people, someone was injured and is currently in the hospital and the investigation is going to tell us what really happened. The issue is with the Hawks.”
Cele reiterated his call for harsher punishment for those who attack and kill police officers.
“This breakthrough as a result of the combined efforts of DPCI along with Crime Intelligence, Flying Squad and Tactical Response teams is paying off and I am encouraged that the province’s SAPS has answered the call to find the killer cops, alive or dead.
