How it happened | Proteas v England, 2nd T20
The result gives England an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series ahead of Tuesday’s T20 final at Newlands.
Malan, who grew up in the Boland region of South Africa, hit 55 with 40 balls and shared a vital partnership of 51 runs on fifth field with skipper Eoin Morgan on slow cover in hot and windy Boland Park.
Despite losing six wickets in pursuit, England captain Morgan drove alongside him to safety as they reached 147 of 6 in 19.5 overs.
Proteas spinner Tabraiz Shamsi starred in the ball by taking 3/19 in his four overs.
Despite going 12.75 over, Proteas fast pitcher Lungi Ngidi posted 2/51 in his four starts.
After being asked to hit first, the Proteas were restricted to 146 for six in their assigned 20 overs.
South Africa needed to come back strong after their five wickets loss in the opening T20.
Kock’s captain Quinton de Kock scored the leading scorer with 30 before the opener was poorly timed on a delivery from speedy pitcher Chris Jordan.
Jordan picked up his 65th T20 wicket which saw him level with paceman Stuart Broad as England’s top wicket taker in T20 cricket.
All-rounder George Linde, playing in his second T20, made a useful bat contribution for the hosts (29 of 20) and Rassie van der Dussen was undefeated at 25.
Spinner Adil Rashid starred with the ball for the tourists by taking 2/23 in his four overs.
