Legendary wing of the Wallabies David campese has taken a hit at an “arrogant” New Zealand rugby union and believes the All Blacks aura is “gone”.
Campese has criticized the NZR’s decision to effectively separate from Super Rugby and only offer Rugby Australia two or three places in a new competition.
“Everything happens off the field before it happens on the field. Always,” Campese told the New Zealand team. Stuff website. “They (NZR) came out and been so arrogant [about Super Rugby], and I’m sitting there thinking, ‘You know guys, they’re going to fall on his sword pretty soon.’
“You take away Australia and New Zealand would not be anywhere near where they are,” added Campese. “They are lucky that we have played against them year after year. We have also helped them.
“Unfortunately, in the last two years we had a lot of problems off the field, that’s why we were bad on the field.”
Campese said the All Blacks ‘performance against the Wallabies in Wellington, a test that ended in a 16-16 draw, did not bode well for them with coach Ian Foster, who took the spot ahead of the Crusaders’ Scott Robertson. .
“That All Blacks aura is gone. They didn’t have that composure [in Wellington], and they panicked a bit, which they don’t normally do.
Campese, who played 101 Tests for Australia between 1984 and 1996, predicted that Foster wouldn’t last long in the job and questioned why he wasn’t offered a four-year deal.
