CAPE TOWN – The Democratic Alliance (DA) wants a clean sweep of the Western Cape in next year’s local government elections.
That is the message from the newly elected provincial leader Bonginkosi Madikizela, who wants the party to win all 30 municipalities in the only DA-led province.

Madikizela was re-elected as provincial leader in a hotly contested hybrid provincial conference on Saturday. Albert Fritz was elected alternate.
Madikizela called for unity within the party if the government of the province is taken seriously. His election comes just over a week after the prosecution’s poor performance in the recent by-elections across the country.
Accepting reelection, Madikizela said the district attorney should win all municipalities in the province in next year’s local government elections.
“Because we have no election partners, we have to come together as a party if we really want to save South Africa and if we want to seriously rule the Western Cape. And if we really want to make sure 2021 comes, we will govern all the municipalities of the Western Cape, ”he said.
He also wasted no time in calling for unity, saying that party members should work to stabilize the party, which has been shaken by divisions.
“We focused internally and some of the things were very unpleasant, but I think it’s time to end the campaign here and now and make sure we build a stable party that is attractive to the people of the Western Cape,” Madikizela said.
