JOHANNESBURG – The district attorney has terminated Nkele Molapo’s membership after a three-year legal battle over claims that she leaked information from the Tshwane caucus to EFF leader Julius Malema.
In a brief statement, outgoing Gauteng President Mike Moriarty announced that both the federal legal council and appeals processes found her guilty.
Molapo, who represents the district attorney in the Gauteng legislature, has also been in the headlines in recent days for the allegations he made against the former mayor of Tshwane and now acting provincial leader Solly Msimanga.
She accused him of sexual harassment in the run-up to the 2016 local government elections.
Moriarty said Molapo was tried by a fair process of the council and was confirmed by the structure’s appeals panel.
He said this meant an immediate termination of his membership with no further internal appeals possible.
In a statement issued Friday afternoon, Molapo said that he had noticed the press release announcing the termination of my membership in the party.
“My lawyer and I have not yet received an official communication from the party.
“I will consult with my attorney on the way forward. There will be no further media comment from me until then.”
