CAPE TOWN – The case against a Cape Town law enforcement officer charged with the murder of an undercover police officer has been postponed to early December.

Morne Horn turned herself in to Hawks detectives for the fatal shooting that occurred last January.

Officer Thando Singcu was allegedly shot to death by the defendant, who apparently mistook him for a robber.

The 38-year-old officer was detaining a robbery suspect in Cape Town’s central business district at the time of the incident, but was shot while apparently trying to explain that he was a police officer working undercover.

Hawks spokesman Zinzi Hani said: “The robbery suspect also suffered a gunshot wound and was subsequently admitted to hospital. The robbery suspect was being arrested for being in possession of drugs. Horn was released on bail of 5,000 rand under strict conditions and was expected to appear before the Cape Town Magistrates Court on December 3, 2020. ”
