According to the statement, the Members Council met “to discuss various matters, including what is best for cricket as well as for the organization.”
CSA Acting Chairman Beresford Williams and the other board members who are also members of the Membership Council, the statement added, withdrew from the Membership Council meeting to “allow for transparent and confidential discussions between the rest of the members “.
“The Council of Members deliberated on the various proposals put forward by the Board. The Board had met before and discussed various strategies that would better position CSA, one of these approaches was that if the Board had to resign in the best interest of CSA, the Board would then do it as it would be for the greater good of South African cricket, “said Rihan Richards, a member of the CSA Council of Members, who chaired the meeting in Williams’ absence.
“Dheven Dharmalingam submitted a letter to the Board of Directors indicating his willingness to resign, if the Council of Members believes that it is in the best interests of cricket and the organization as a whole.
“The story that currently exists was not officially corroborated by CSA and we again appeal to the media or any other interested party who requires information, to contact us directly to obtain accurate information.
“CSA will continue to work with our various stakeholders as the oversight body to ensure that cricket continues to receive the administrative support it needs to thrive in South Africa,” concluded Richards.
