As a result of the recent Covid-19 outbreak within the team, the Sharks many first-choice players will be missing when they host the Pumas at the Currie Cup this weekend.
The Sharks are missing up to 10 players who have been sidelined with Covid-19, or are isolated due to contact with infected players, ahead of their first Currie Cup game in Durban on Friday night.
At least they got some good news this week after Springbok mainstay Thomas du Toit was declared fit again, but Sharks CEO Eduard Coetzee knows they will still face off this weekend.
“We were able to test the team on Sunday and although we have no new cases, we are still without the 10 players from last week,” Coetzee said. “Sometimes all possible precautions can be taken, but nothing is a complete test.
“You will see when the team is announced that we are hit hard on the front row and on the loose lead, but we will have to make a plan and move on. We must play. We cannot afford to lose any more points in the Login.”
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak among Sharks players, last weekend’s clash with the Stormers was called off and both teams received two points instead.
