Covid-19 update: recovery rate is now 90%

As of Sunday, September 27, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases detected is 670,766 with 1,268 new cases identified, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize announced.

The country has also reported 22 more Covid-19-related deaths: 7 from the Eastern Cape, 5 from KwaZulu-Natal, 2 from Gauteng, 5 from the North West, and 3 from the Western Cape.

Investigation into R56m police car brand scam leads to more arrests

Three more people have been arrested in connection with an alleged R56 million police vehicle brand scam.

On Friday, the National Anti-Corruption Task Force assigned to the Investigation Directorate of the National Prosecutor’s Office arrested a colonel, an administrative employee of the police supply chain management division and a civilian.

Ramaphosa takes Mapisa-Nqakula’s salary for a trip to Zimbabwe

President Cyril Ramaphosa has issued Defense Minister and military veterans Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula a formal reprimand that includes reducing his salary for three months for the controversial ANC trip to Zimbabwe.

In September it emerged that ANC members had taken a partisan political trip to meet with Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu-PF party, and Mapisa had taken the ANC members on a state plane.

The glitz and glamor of the awards show was still very much on display at the fourth Royalty Soapie Awards hosted by talented presenters Mpho Popps and Lerato LKG Kganyago.

The pre-recorded awards show aired to the public on Saturday September 26, 2020 on SABC 1. Things were very different this year due to the pandemic, there were no fans present on the carpet mat and a very small audience as well. Frenchman Fabio Quartararo made an exciting journey to a resounding victory in the MotoGP of Catalonia on Sunday, earning his third victory of the season that puts him at the top of the world championship standings.

Joan Mir moved on to second place and is now eight points behind Quartararo in the standings, while Alex Rins completed the podium.
