The city of Cape Town has alerted local businesses to unscrupulous scammers who claim to be fogging and disinfecting businesses to protect against Covid-19.
The scammers were scamming companies out of hundreds of rand for “cleaning services,” said Zahid Badroodien, a member of the mayor’s health and community services committee.
“Business owners who are unsure how to ensure that their establishment presents a low risk of exposure to staff and customers should contact their local Office of Environmental Health for advice and guidance.
“However, since Covid-19 spreads through droplets on both surfaces and in the air, the best plan of action is to ensure regular cleaning of all surfaces and to ensure that customers and staff wear masks on at all times. In addition, distancing is essential, as well as disinfecting the hands of all people who enter the facilities and guaranteeing sufficient ventilation and air flow, “he said.
