COVID-19 in South Africa: 82 more people die from coronavirus

JOHANNESBURG – The total number of confirmed coronavirus-related deaths in South Africa is 15,086.

The Health Department has reported 82 new deaths in the last 24 hours.

Most of the deaths are from KwaZulu Natal (27), Western Cape (20) and Gauteng (15).

Eastern Cape (9), Free State (6) and Northern Cape (5) have also reported deaths.

There have been 1,079 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of cumulative cases to 640,441.

The recovery rate is 88.6 percent, which means that 567,729 people have recovered from the virus.
