COVID-19 in SA: 10,939 new infections reported

JOHANNESBURG – COVID-19 cases continue to rise, with new infections exceeding 11,000.

A month ago, daily cases were around 2,500.

The cumulative number of cases in South Africa is now 912,477.

At least 787,782 people have recovered from the virus.

The health department said 254 people have died from the virus since the last report, mostly in the Eastern Cape.

The total number of people who have succumbed to COVID-19 in South Africa now stands at 24,539.
