JOHANNESBURG – Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula said they would not accept any documents except a COVID-19 test certificate for international travelers entering the country.
Mbalula has informed the media about the travel restrictions at alert level 1.
He has reiterated the call for all passersby to wear a mask at all times, except for children under the age of two and those with medical conditions that make breathing difficult.
The ban on international travel was lifted on Thursday and South Africans were banned from traveling to and from high-risk countries.
Mbalula said that according to regulations, travelers must present a proof certificate that is no more than 72 hours old.
“A passport of immunity regarding COVID-19 is not acceptable.”
