Another matrix marker has died from Covid-19.
- The Gauteng Department of Education is mourning the death of another matrix test marker, who died after testing positive for Covid-19.
- The 56-year-old Tourism Senior Marker was working at the Florida High School Marking Center.
- This is the third marker to fall to the virus in Gauteng since the beginning of the matrix examination processes.
The Gauteng Department of Education is mourning the death of another matrix test marker, who died after testing positive for Covid-19.
According to the department, the 56-year-old Tourism senior, who worked at the Florida High School Marking Center, succumbed to complications from the coronavirus Sunday morning after being released from her duties on January 12.
“Our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late marker who this morning lost her battle with Covid-19,” said the MEC of Education Panyaza Lesufi.
The marker had apparently shown symptoms of Covid-19 two weeks ago and was sent home for medical attention.
This is the third marker to fall to the virus in Gauteng.

Lesufi congratulated Gauteng education officials for their commitment to providing a quality education to students.
“We once again applaud the commitment shown by education officials, from teachers to non-teaching staff, who have continued to work against this deadly virus; their sacrifices are not in vain.”
