CAPE TOWN – Details have emerged about how the Hawks identified a Gauteng man as a suspect in the murder of a prominent Western Cape detective and then moved quickly to arrest him.

Charl Kinnear was shot and killed outside his home in Bishop Lavis in Cape Town a week ago.

He had been investigating high-level cases in the underworld in the Western Cape and there were questions as to why his protective gear had been removed.

Zane Killian, a former Falcons rugby player, was arrested and made a brief appearance in Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court on Friday.

His legal representative Eric Breyer said an arrest warrant was issued last Sunday.
“They took him to the Midrand police station on Monday night. On Tuesday he was in Midrand’s cells until 3pm. They picked it up and brought it here overnight and it arrived Wednesday morning. “

The case was postponed until October 5, 2020.
