CAPE TOWN – The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) says it is hot on the heels of another high-ranking official in the Western Cape suspected of PPE corruption.
In July, the SIU attacked officials from the local Matzikama municipality for their alleged involvement in irregular contracts.
The unit now says that a municipal manager in the municipality of Cederberg could be linked to this matter.

The individual has been under the SIU radar for some time.
“We found three contractors there who were improperly awarded contracts. And while we were investigating them, they took us to other municipalities,” said SIU communications chief Kaizer Kganyago.
Last week, the SIU says the police prevented him from entering this building.

“Our guys were here last week and then he asked the Metro Police to prevent them from entering,” Kganyago said.
“HWe closed the offices because at that time we did not have the search and seizure order. “
The municipality of Cederberg relies on a meager budget, making it difficult to provide services in the event officials are involved in acts of corruption.
