Another arrest warrant, which will not be executed until his next scheduled court appearance, was issued against former Bosasa COO turned whistleblower Angelo Agrizzi.
This after Agrizzi failed to appear in the Palm Ridge Commercial Crimes Court along with his former ANC MP Vincent Smith on Thursday.
Sindisiwe Twala, a spokesperson for the National Tax Authority’s Investigation Directorate, said Agrizzi was not in court because “he is still in the intensive care unit.
He said Agrizzi’s attorney, Mannie Witz, had requested that the arrest warrant be transferred until the next appearance.
Meanwhile, prosecutor Peter Serunye told the court that the state has received the guarantees of the Italian property owned by Agrizzi.
The couple was charged with corruption, while Smith faces additional charges of fraud for alleged payments made to his company, Euroblitz, in 2015 and 2016.
The State alleges that the payments were made to Smith to silence his opposition to Bosasa during the parliamentary committee meetings. Smith has pleaded not guilty and maintains that the money was a loan from Agrizzi, which Agrizzi denies.
