“As far as my client and I know, we are not aware of such interference. We pledged, when my client was granted bail, that she will not interfere with any state witnesses, directly or indirectly, and we have also repeated the same today at the cut. [adherence to] bail [terms] still stands.”

Nkhwashu said they were also informed that there is DNA pending, due to delays caused by the Covid-19 shutdown.

In an urgent request submitted to the Pretoria High Court last month, Mngoma said his arrest was an orchestrated plan.

“The entire arrest was an orchestrated plan to intimidate me, to intimidate me, and ultimately to gain illegal access to my devices, to remove specific information and to violate my privacy,” he said.

Mngoma was arrested in July after she allegedly caused extensive damage to a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG driven by her husband by repeatedly scratching it. There was also a complaint that resulted in a criminal offense charge for sending an insulting text message to a friend of her husband.

Mngoma’s bail has been extended and he will return to court in 2021.
