Comair, the SA operator of kulula.com and British Airways emerging from the corporate bailout, announced the resignation of CEO Wrenelle Stander on Monday.
The company, which will resume flights on Tuesday, said Glenn Orsmond, the former joint CEO of Stander before the group left that model in 2019, was the new CEO. Comair has also appointed Kirsten King as Chief Financial Officer.
Stander’s resignation is effective as of Monday.
In a note to Comair employees, which he has seen on Business Day, Stander said: “It has been a real pleasure working with you for the past two years and leading you as CEO through one of the most difficult times in the 74th year of history “.
In the note, he said the investor consortium, which made an offer to buy the operator of the publicly traded airline, had indicated that it would bring in a new executive team. “I would like to wish the best to the new team and I hope that, under his leadership, Comair will grow more and more,” he said.
“I also want to thank joint venture rescue practitioners Shaun Collyer and Richard Ferguson for their cooperation and collaboration over the past seven months.”
Stander has held the positions of Deputy Executive Director of the South African Civil Aviation Authority, Executive Director of the Air Traffic and Navigation Services Company and Executive Director of Sasol Gas, where she was credited with ensuring the completion of the project of expansion of the Mozambique gas pipeline.
