Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has debunked recent Manchester United transfer rumors that have circulated.
In the height of the festive season, English football will witness the reopening of the transfer market on January 2. Agents representing different players will find themselves floating here and there. The club’s managers will include their list of transfer targets in hopes of turning their fortunes around during the second half of the season. If necessary, clubs will spend a good amount of money despite being in the middle of a global pandemic. And the same would be happening in almost all clubs, including Manchester United.
After a rocky start to the 2020-21 campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been enjoying a strong run of results, especially in away games lately. From the looks of things, they might even be gearing up for a title challenge. However, that might require a few more signings.
A deal for Brighton and Hove Albion defensive midfielder Yves Bissouma is apparently what Manchester United are looking to knock down in the next January transfer window.
Bissouma, 24, is a regular on Graham Potter’s side. The Mali international has played 13 league games this season so far.
Reports believe United has identified Bissouma as a long-term replacement for Nemanja Matic. Apart from the Red Devils, Liverpool and AS Monaco are also controlling the midfielder.
Despite all these reports, Brighton manager Graham Potter believes the rumors are not “true”, and also clarifies that there has been no rapprochement by any of his Premier League rivals regarding Bissouma.

When asked about Bissouma’s future, Potter said according to the Daily Mail:
“There have been no approaches. Like I said before, just because it’s in the newspaper doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true.
“My focus at Yves is how I can help him improve and I think he still has some improvements to make.
“That’s my approach with him, trying to help him reach his full potential. He still has work to do, so that’s what we’re focusing on. “
The general understanding is that Manchester United will monitor more expenses than income during the transfer market. And it will be interesting to see if the club really ends up betting on Bissouma, as the defensive midfield is an area that requires some reinforcement.
