Speaking outside a Clicks store in Sandton City, Johannesburg, Shivambu said Clicks should suffer the consequences after posting an ad that showed black people’s hair as “dry” and “damaged” but white people’s hair as usual”.

There were about 30 EFF members at the Sandton protest.

The protests have affected the ability of many Clicks workers to go to work. Some stores closed their doors.

But Shivambu said the workers were “an unfortunate guarantee.”

“Clicks employees must know that after this action they are going to benefit forever because this management will begin to forcibly respect blacks,” Shivambu said.

He added that “Clicks employees must be assured that after our action, they will benefit from this.”

Shivambu said that after the protests against the protests by the retail chain H&M in 2013, the workers gained “more respect” from their employees and that “all their demands were granted.”

The protests will continue

Shivambu promised to continue shutting down Clicks until the chain complies with the party’s demands.

“We are here for the Clicks to stop operating. If they open, we go in … and there will be no operation that will exist here,” Shivambu warned.

“There is no type of court order or anything to stop us from protesting against racism,” he added.

“Racism must be treated as such. It must be resisted. It must be rejected everywhere.

“That’s why we are here today and we will be here to make sure this store doesn’t open. If that means [must] Come back tomorrow, we’ll be back tomorrow, all week until you agree to the demands you’ve given us, “Shivambu added.
