City Press Executive Editor Dumisane Lubisi died at the age of 44.
- Dumisane Lubisi joined City Press in 2007 and has worked in different verticals in newspaper publishing.

City Press executive editor Dumisane Lubisi has passed away, the publication announced in a statement Saturday.
Lubisi, 44, died Friday night of apparent heart failure.
Editor-in-chief Mondli Makhanya said the newsroom had lost a pillar in Lubisi, describing it as “rigorous on precision.”
“I cannot even begin to describe the devastation we are feeling as a City Press family,” added Makhanya.
Lubisi previously worked at the African Eye news agency, This Day and the Sunday Times before joining City Press in June 2007 as an investigative reporter.
During his time at City Press, he served as a senior reporter, editor-in-charge of the publication’s opinion and analysis section, Voices, as well as an ombudsman for the newspaper.
“He was an avid road runner and was often seen in the office wearing particularly flashy and shiny running shoes. ‘Dumi’ will be deeply missed by his friends and colleagues at City Press.”

The newspaper said Lubisi had struck fear into the hearts of reporters and managers with his relentless enforcement of the Press Code and media ethics and was able to detect news angles from afar, serving as a pivotal voice for the newspaper.
“Above all, he was a very good guy. He laughed, joked, talked nonsense and brought our newsroom to life. His only major flaw was his loyalty to that gold and black Phefeni outfit. He even dared to use the that team’s jersey. to the office, “Makhanya said.
Lubisi leaves behind her parents and three children, Thando, Siya and Wandile.
The publication said funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
