Former Mamelodi Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane resigned after showing the middle finger to club president Patrice Motsepe and management when the billionaire ordered him to apologize for comments he had made during a post-game interview after winning the league or face a disciplinary hearing.

Two sources, who are aware of Sundowns policy, said Sundowns employees Cedric Moela and Thabo Lekuma complained bitterly to Motsepe and other senior team officials that Mosimane’s comments discredited the team and pressured it to to issue a public apology or be arrested. before a disciplinary hearing.

Mosimane was given until Tuesday to apologize, but he refused and resigned.

“Mosimane was instructed to apologize to the team and fans for his comments that were viewed as disrespectful and damaging to the Sundowns brand,” our deep throat said.

However, he refused to apologize after meeting Motsepe on the eve of his departure, saying that he preferred to resign because Chloorkop was too toxic.

“He said that he told Motsepe that he would rather be unemployed than be disrespected by Moela and Lekuma.

Another source said Mosimane told Motsepe that Lekuma and Moela would break into his zoom meetings and accuse him of lining up the wrong players.

“The zoom meetings were recorded and sent to the president, who read them and understood what happened at the meeting, but nothing happened to discipline these guys,” the source said.

The source said Motsepe reminded Mosimane that he couldn’t leave because he still had a current contract with the team, but Mosimane said he would rather be out of work and insisted that he leave.

“When the offer came from Egypt, he accepted and left.”

Sundowns spokesman Shuping Nkgadima declined to comment, saying Motsepe was the one to comment on Mosimane’s resignation. He also said he did not know why the announcement of the new technical team had been postponed. – Additional information from Xolile Mtshazo
