Three men have been arrested in Gugulethu after they allegedly abducted two Chinese women, and one of the women was found dead.
According to police, it was not yet clear what caused the 51-year-old woman’s death.
“The circumstances surrounding the death of a 51-year-old Chinese woman are being investigated after her body was discovered on Friday morning at around 06:30 at a residence in Gugulethu,” said police spokesman Colonel Andrè Traut.
He said the victim was believed to have attempted to escape from the Gugulethu residence after she and another Chinese woman, 34, were allegedly abducted by the suspects in Delft on Friday.
“The exact cause of his death and the motive for the kidnapping have not yet been determined,” Traut added.
The suspects, aged 26, 32 and 34, were later arrested.
They were expected to appear in court Monday once they were charged.
