Manchester United’s transfer deadline Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles said their respective conversations with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had convinced them to join the Red Devils.

United managed to complete last-minute moves for Porto FC’s Cavani and Telles on Monday. The former joined the Red Devils on a two-year contract, with the option of breaking the deal after one year for both parties. Fabrizio Romano from The Guardian reported that Telles signed with the English club for a fee of 15 million euros (17.7 million dollars) plus 2 million euros (2.3 million dollars) in accessories.

Prior to their United debut, both Cavani and Telles said that Solskjaer played a key role in completing their moves.

“Manchester United are one of the best clubs in the world, so it is a real honor to be here,” Cavani said in a statement on the club’s official website. “I have worked very hard during my free time and I am looking forward to competing and representing this incredible club.”

“I hope to continue writing my little story within the football book and I know that is why my approach must remain the same as always: work, work, work,” he added. “I had a conversation with the manager [Solskjaer] and this has increased my desire to wear this beautiful shirt. “

Telles, meanwhile, said he admires Solskjaer’s vision for the club and is delighted to be playing with him.

“I won a lot of trophies at FC Porto and I want to continue like that at United,” said the 27-year-old left-back. He said on the official United site. “Manager [Solskjaer] He has a clear plan and direction for this team and I can’t wait to put on the famous jersey.

The Norwegian coach is also looking forward to the pair’s arrival. Solskjaer praised Cavani and emphasized that he expects goals from him.

“Edinson is a great seasoned professional who always gives everything for his team,” said the manager. “His record for goals with the club and the national team is fantastic and we are delighted to sign a player of his caliber. He will bring energy, power, leadership and a great mentality to the squad but, most importantly, he will bring goals ”.

As for Telles, Solskjaer is confident that the former Porto star, whom he referred to as a “fighter and a winner”, is the type of player United have been looking for.

“Alex has the qualities, as a player and as a person, that we want here at Manchester United,” said the United manager.
