Cardi B’s ex-husband Offset was briefly detained by Beverly Hills police on Saturday during the weekly pro-Trump rally and released, while his cousin Marcelo Almanzar was arrested on concealed weapons charges.
Videos that have since gone viral on social media showed Offset and the police surrounded by supporters of President Trump, some of whom were carrying flags.
The three-time Grammy-nominated rapper streamed some of his interaction with police live on Instagram after his arrest.
Law enforcement officers ask Offset to open the door and get out of the vehicle, and he refuses, claiming the officers are unable to open the doors. The second officer then opens the door, and the third officer grabs Offset by the wrist, pulls him out of the car, and the stream ends. Towards the end of the video, Offset says he will sue the police department.
According to the police, Offset was not arrested, adding that the police arrested the passenger in the car, Marcelo Almanzar, 20, accused of carrying a concealed firearm and carrying a loaded weapon in public.
Cardi B’s cousin is reportedly still in police custody after encountering Trump fans; Offset streamed the entire incident live on Instagram.
In the video, Offset says he is concerned that the police have their guns on him and refuses to take his hands off the wheel. He then says that someone hit his car with a flag.
Marcelo Almanzar was arrested on suspicion of possession of a loaded concealed weapon, a police officer said.
Other videos also showed Cardi B near the scene. Cardi, also used her Instagram account to share how scared she was when passing cars at a rally in support of the president.
Almánzar is the cousin of Offset’s wife, Cardi B, according to TMZ reports. Cardi B’s legal name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar.
