Eskom’s controversial former legal chief-turned-whistleblower Suzanne Daniels told Zondo’s commission of inquiry into the state capture on Monday that it was Matshela Koko, not her, who was the real link between the energy company and Gupta’s ally. , Salim Essa.
Daniels, who was making her second appearance before the investigation, refuted parts of Koko’s evidence last week that she was one of the people who made presentations that led to the payment of consulting fees to McKinsey and his partner, Trillian, which was later found to be excessive.
Later, Mckinsey agreed to return almost R1 billion that he received from Eskom. Essa, a close business partner of the Gupta family, was one of the founders of Trillian Capital.
