Cape Town – A Cape Town family is shocked after unknown gunmen stormed their home on Heritage Day Thursday and shot four family members dead.

Among the deceased was an 11-year-old boy.

One person survived the shooting at Brown’s Farm Thursday night, said a statement released Friday by provincial police spokeswoman Novela Potelwa.

Preliminary reports showed that two unknown gunmen broke into a house on Makhosi Street, shot and killed the boy, as well as three women aged 18, 30 and 69.

“Meanwhile, another person who was injured in the shooting was taken to a medical center for treatment,” Potelwa said.

He said detectives from the provincial organized crime unit were investigating the case. The 72-hour activation plan of the South African Police Services was underway and resources had been mobilized to locate and detain the suspects.

“Anyone with information that could help expedite the investigation is urged to contact the police on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS app. All information received will be handled in strict confidence, ”said Potelwa.

Earlier this week, less than a kilometer from Brown’s Farm, four people were shot dead and a fifth victim injured and rushed to hospital in the Nyanga area.

According to Potelwa, those victims, all men in their early 30s, were sitting outside a house on Noxolo Street in Crossroads when a vehicle stopped and three occupants opened fire on them.
