Cape Town – A motorist and his mother were attacked by taxi drivers on the N2 during the morning rush hour in Cape Town.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. yesterday between Bhunga Avenue and Jan Smuts Drive, when Wafeeq Craven, 20, tried to alert a taxi driver that he had scraped his vehicle by cutting in front of him, he told Radio 786.
This resulted in a confrontation in which Craven, who was on his way to work, was beaten, kicked and stabbed.
In a video that has gone viral, three men can be seen attacking Craven, with someone sitting in a taxi apparently recording the fight. Two men finally intervene to prevent Craven, who ended up lying on the ground, from being attacked.

His 55-year-old mother, who was traumatized by the incident, suffered bruises on her arms and face when she tried to intervene, Craven said.
Craven said an object was thrown at his vehicle and men began attacking him as he exited.
It was only when one of the taxi drivers pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the cheek, Craven said, that other traffic passengers intervened.
According to Craven, a police van passed the scene but did not stop. He intends to continue the case to the end.
Western Cape Police spokesman Capt. FC van Wyk said Thursday that Athlone Police are investigating a common assault case. No arrests have yet been made.
Craven is believed to be in a “bad condition at the hospital” and one of his friends posted on Facebook: “Please help us find the people responsible for organizing and brutally hospitalizing this young man and his mother!
A really peaceful young man that I personally saw growing up in front of me! It won’t even hurt a fly. He was beaten by these pigs. ”
Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Athlone Police Station on 021 697 9238 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
