A man was arrested in Cape Town’s central business district after police found 100,000 rand worth of drugs in his car and home.

A man was arrested in Cape Town’s financial district for illegal possession of drugs worth 100,000 rand in his car and at his home.

Police were conducting patrols and arrest and search operations in the city bowl, with a focus on extortion from nightclubs.

On DF Malan Street, around 7:00 p.m., they saw the 49-year-old man.

When police searched his vehicle, they found a dagga worth R30,000, according to police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk.

Police then went to his home where more drugs were dug up, Van Wyk said in a statement.

“Following further investigation at the suspect’s residence, the police found CAT cocaine in ecstasy capsules and tablets with an estimated street value of R70,000,” he added.

The man will appear in Cape Town magistrates court on Monday.

“The police will oppose [his] bail request. The drugs were released as evidence for safekeeping, “added Van Wyk.
