Bushiri will not get a fair trial under Ramaphosa regime, says BLF – the Citizen

Black First Land First (BLF) has now joined ANC deputy Boy Mamabolo in advocating for church leader Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) and fugitive Shepherd Bushiri.

“It is clear to all impartial people that the South African government has waged a vengeance against the Prophet Bushiri. The South African government is not interested in the rule of law. He’s interested in tarnishing the prophet’s name, ”said BLF Vice President Zanele Lwana.

According to Lwana, the latest “negative media-driven propaganda” against Bushiri was a desperate attempt to defocus the “clear and legal” demands made by Bushiri regarding the charges against him.

“It is clear that the South African government has no case against the prophet, hence the fabrication of charges and fueling the media frenzy in an attempt to carry out a media trial.

“It is clear that the Prophet Bushiri will never receive a fair trial in South Africa under the Ramaphosa administration. Stellenbosch is threatened by the prophet, hence the persecution we see. “

Lwana has called on the South African government to stop “the persecution” of Bushiri and comply with his demands to guarantee his right to a fair trial and security.

“It is clear that South Africa is under the control of whites and blacks who are not controlled by white power and can fend for themselves are destroyed.”

Bushiri and his wife, Mary, fled to Malawi earlier this month after being released on bail. They face charges of fraud, theft and money laundering, and three more arrest warrants were issued for the self-proclaimed prophet following the rape allegations against him.

Upon arrival in Malawi, Bushiri made the following demands on the South African government to return:

1. First, I want the South African government to guarantee us our safety while we are in South Africa.
2. Second, I want the South African government to assure us that our bond will not be revoked. Our right to a fair trial means that we have access to our attorneys at all times. Revocation of the bond nullifies our right to a fair trial and also exposes us to greater security and safety challenges.
3. Third, I want the agents involved in the investigation, arrest and prosecution of us to recuse themselves. As stated above, this is the same team that I filed a complaint against and also opened cases against. I will not have a fair trial with your continued participation.
4. Fourthly, I want the South African State to see that all the issues that I raised and opened against these officers are brought to their logical conclusion before proceeding with our case.
5. Finally, I want the South African State to designate independent and professional investigators and prosecutors who must make independent decisions about the cases with which we are allegedly charged.
