Bruno Fernandes has revealed that he and his Manchester United teammates were frustrated by their 2-2 draw with Leicester City in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
The Red Devils headed into the clash at King Power Stadium looking to score three straight Premier League wins, but the Foxes turned them down twice as they had to settle for a point away from home.
The result meant Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men missed the chance to close the gap with leader Liverpool FC just two points behind the Reds’ clash with West Brom on Sunday.
Manchester United have been in good shape in the Premier League in recent weeks and their strong shows at the top flight have helped raise the bar for a potential title challenge this season.
And Fernandes has admitted that his teammates’ reaction to Saturday’s draw shows just how far the Red Devils have come in recent months.
Talking to BT sport After the final whistle on Saturday, Fernandes said: “I was very happy when I got to the locker room and saw everyone disappointed and saying the things we needed to do better.
“You are creating a winning mentality and we are not happy with this point.
“We are frustrated, we know we had the opportunity to score three points, it was important for us because we want to win every game.”
He continued: “They have a good team, but we had a chance to win the game and be more than 2-1 in the 85th minute.
“With that scoreboard we can concede a goal, we are disappointed but we don’t have time to be disappointed as we play again in three days, we have to be frustrated and we have to do much better in three days.
“They are a really good team, we know they defend well, they don’t give much space to play. We lost chances to score, or the last pass wasn’t good enough. “
Fernandes and his Manchester United teammates will try to get back on track to victory in the Premier League when they take on Wolves at home on Tuesday night.
