JOHANNESBURG – Eskom has suspended load shedding for now.

On Thursday, the utility company said it was able to avoid a third straight day of power outages, thanks to a drop in demand before the long weekend.

Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said: “Eskom is pleased to inform the public that load shedding has been suspended due to falling electricity demand ahead of the long weekend. While this is the case, Eskom asks the people of South Africa to continue to use electricity sparingly as the system remains vulnerable and unstable.
