The criminal case against Norma Mngoma, the estranged wife of former Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba, has been withdrawn.

“By instruction of the [Director of Public Prosecutions], the state drops all charges, “said prosecutor Hilke Janse van Rensburg.

Mngoma appeared before the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Friday after the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ruled that his arrest was illegal.

The Hawks arrested Mngoma in July 2020 for allegedly wrecking Gigaba’s friend’s luxury car.

She was accused of willful damage to property and criminal injury.
