TS Galaxy have officially announced their move to the top flight of South African football after completing the Highlands Park estate purchase from the Absa Premiership.

“The acquisition comes after lengthy and delicate discussions, in which both parties finally reached a mutual agreement that will see TS Galaxy Football Club campaigning in the first division of South African soccer starting in the 2020/21 season.” the club said in a statement.

“As a result, TS Galaxy FC’s status at the GladAfrica Championship has been sold back to its former champions, Cape Town All Stars.”

The club confirmed key changes to the management team with Dan “Dance” Malesela returning as head coach after guiding the club to become the first lower division team to lift the Nedbank Cup.

Another change will see Mabhuti Khenyeza take over as head coach of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) team.

“Additionally, the Rockets are proud to welcome former Bidvest Wits player and goalkeeping coach, Tyron Damons, who will head up the goalkeeping department.” added the club.

“Veteran defender Thabo Nthethe, who signed with the club last season, will now serve as team manager. Nthethe was the club captain in his last professional match in the TS Galaxy colors in a win against Uthongathi FC in the last match of the season.

“As the only club from Mpumalanga province to compete in the Absa Premiership, the Rockets will use the iconic Mbombela Stadium as their venue for next season.

“This is due to the unavailability of the club’s traditional base, the Kameelrivier Stadium, as it does not meet the standards of hosting Absa Premiership matches as prescribed by the NSL Rules.”
