NHS vital services for cancer treatment and mental health support will resume today as Boris Johnson tells the British to “be easy” on the closing rules.
Matt Hancock said restoring NHS services would see the reopening of the “most urgent” facilities today.
Meanwhile, the families of frontline staff who died of coronavirus will receive payments of £ 60,000 when deaths in the UK reach 21,092.
It came when Secretary of Health and Social Assistance Matt Hancock announced that 82 NHS workers and 16 social care staff are among the deaths in the UK.
“I feel a deep sense of personal duty that we must care for loved ones,” Hancock said at the Downing Street press conference on Monday night.
“I can announce that the government is establishing a life insurance scheme for NHS and social care colleagues.
“Families of staff who die of coronavirus in the course of their essential front-line work will receive a payment of £ 60,000.”
Earlier on Monday, Boris Johnson declared that Britain is winning the first battle against the coronavirus, but warned of the danger of a second spike.
The prime minister said there were no immediate plans to lift the blockade as he made his way to the nation on his first day back to work since he recovered from Covid-19.
