Legendary former Springbok Bakkies Botha has added his voice to those who question Owen Farrell’s five-game ban for a terrible tackle last weekend.
Farrell received a red card for the horrible-looking blow on Wasps’ Charlie Atkinson, who is currently recovering from the blow to the head.

Although the disciplinary panel concluded that the tackle was a high-level infraction with a 10-game suspension entry point, it was eventually reduced to five due to extenuating circumstances.
This included testimonials provided by Saracens boss Mark McCall, England boss Eddie Jones and the founders of a charity that Farrell works closely with.
Botha, who played 85 tests and was no stranger to being held accountable for disciplinary indiscretions, took to social media to respond to a SARugbymag.co.za article and highlight the inconsistency of such suspensions.
If he had a 4 on his back and his last name is Ban Botha right after the Lions Tour next year, if it was all about time, then my time was off with Jimmy Cowan too. 🏉🏉🏉🏉
