Johannesburg – Citing better weather and lower energy demand, Eskom has announced stage 3 load reduction for Friday between 8am and 10pm.

The South Africans were greeted in September with the news of the Stage 2 cargo drop on Tuesday morning.

This was followed by the removal of Stage 4 loads on Wednesday and Thursday, meaning that some areas of the country can expect blackouts at least twice a day.

In a statement on Thursday, Eskom said: “Due to reduced demand and improved weather, Eskom will reduce cargo loss to Stage 3 from 8 am to 10 pm tomorrow (Friday).

“In order to replenish emergency generation reserves, load shedding will continue through the weekend.

“The system remains unreliable and vulnerable, and eskom will continue to communicate the stages of load shedding in the event of new developments,” said Eskom.

On Wednesday night, and in confirming the Stage 4 load reduction for Thursday, the power company blamed cold weather and persistent generation limitations for the continued blackouts.

“Eskom would like to confirm that due to continued severe generation supply constraints caused by multiple unit failures, as well as additional demand as a result of cold weather, phase 4 load shedding will resume at 8am until 10 pm on Thursday.

“The load drop will persist throughout the week, as Eskom teams work 24 hours a day to put as many of these generation units back into service as possible,” the electric company statement reads. Wednesday night.

It was also a day full of power outages along with power outages for thousands of Joburg residents, who had to endure more than four hours of power outages and extended power outages at the same time.

Bryanston residents were among those affected Wednesday night.
