Bayern Munich beat Sevilla 2-1 on Thursday after extra time to lift the UEFA Super Cup and complete a quadruple with coach Hansi Flick, in the first European game played with some fans in the stands since the sport returned amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Substitute Javi Martínez headed the winning goal in the 104th minute after Europa League champions Sevilla took the lead in the 13th minute with a Lucas Ocampos penalty and Bayern drew through Leon Goretzka in the 34th .

The Bavarians, now undefeated in 32 consecutive games and winners of the national double and the Champions League, missed more than half a dozen clear chances to score.

However, it was Bayern goalkeeper Neuer who kept them in the game when he twice denied Youssef En-Nesyri with excellent saves before Martinez benefited from having too much room to rebound.

Some 15,000 fans sat at the Puskas Arena in Budapest with the game seen as a test event for the gradual return of fans to European games.
