JOHANNESBURG – Transportation officials are in charge of the country’s major routes as vacation travel spikes before Christmas.
Gauteng Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo says there is a push to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and drivers comply with COVID-19 safety protocols.

Those who fail to do so will face punishment.
Mamabolo said, “Operations like these by our law enforcement agencies definitely have a positive impact in terms of two things: one: making sure we enforce protocols, laws and regulations related to road safety. Second, , they are definitely impacting the space because we are verifying compliance with the protocols for COVID-19. “
