Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher urged Mohamed Salah to stay amid talks about a possible exit next summer.
Salah had spoken about the possibility of leaving the Reds for the foreseeable future saying that ‘everything is in the hands of the club’ in a recent interview with Spanish media outlet AS.
His statements have sparked rumors of a possible signing for Real Madrid and Barcelona after calling the Spanish giants ‘top clubs’.
The Egyptian has also reportedly been unhappy with Liverpool, especially after he was denied the captaincy in their Champions League match against Midtjylland.
And with him on the bench during Liverpool’s clash against Crystal Palace last weekend, Salah confirmed that he is not happy with the club, according to his close friend Mohamed Aboutrika.
Jamie Carragher spoke about the current situation and believes that Salah is unlikely to move to Spain, as he will turn 29 next summer.
Salah’s recent interview fuels that idea that his career comes first. His comments about being upset about not being named captain in a dead rubber against Midtjylland underlined that. They were weird, ”Carragher told the Telegraph.
“Like most fans, I didn’t think I should be playing in an inconsequential game, much less being the captain.

“The moment when the player initiates the transfer stories is also strange. My opinion is that it was a message to the Liverpool owners to offer him a lucrative new contract.
“Seeing their players being courted by La Liga clubs would have worried Liverpool five years ago. Not now.

“I am not convinced that Madrid and Barça can afford the luxury of Salah. Investing much more than £ 125 million in a player turning 29 this summer is not a good deal.
“No one leaving Liverpool today can say that they will improve their chances of winning trophies. Philippe Coutinho’s experience at the Camp Nou tells us so.
“Liverpool can dominate in England and Europe, or certainly compete for the Premier League and the Champions League, every season Klopp is in charge.
“Condition permitting, Salah is guaranteed to score more than 200 goals and continue to break records if he stays in Merseyside during its best years,” he added.
Salah has had an outstanding season with Liverpool last year after leading them to their first Premier League title in 30 years.
The 28-year-old also maintained his prolific form with the Reds who had already scored 16 goals in all competitions this season.
