Aubameyang-style tweet sends Arsenal fans into transfer collapse

Thomas Partey’s press officer posted a message on his Twitter account, leading Arsenal fans to believe that the midfielder’s move is back.

The Ghanaian has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates throughout 2020, but as time is running out our interest seems to have cooled.

Atlético de Madrid has repeatedly reiterated that the 27-year-old would only leave the club if his termination clause was fully complied with, which has so far prevented our club from completing the move.

However, his press officer, Samuel Zigah, has alerted Arsenal fans with a cryptic tweet, much like what Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did a few months ago.

The Gabon international previously posted an hourglass on social media, hinting that a new contract was on the horizon, before posting another hourglass on the day of his new contract announcement with time running out.

Zigah has now thrilled fans around the world with his hourglass emoji, with many believing this could mean a move is being made.

The tweet now appears to have been removed, but not before DailyRecord was able to take a screenshot of the post.

The report claims that this means that there is a deal in place for Partey, although I can’t say that I’m completely convinced, although some Gunners fans can’t help but believe that this means the deal is back.

Lucas Torreira is in Madrid awaiting confirmation of his loan move in the other direction according to Semra Hunter (via Football.London., And Atlético claimed to be waiting for an exit before being able to complete the deal.

This leads me to think that an agreement between Arsenal and Atlético for Partey is off the table, without the need for Lucas to feel in limbo in Madrid if the clubs made an agreement for Partey that would have left room for the Uruguayan.

Could we get Partey today? Are journalists reading too much on the hourglass, or could it mean news of a new contract with Atlético?
