JOHANNESBURG – At least seven people were killed in a violent clash believed to be linked to taxi violence in the Eastern Cape.

Most of the men who died in the ambush are from one area.

Six people were also injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

Mvusiwekhaya Sicwetsha from the provincial government: “The fighting between these two groups is believed to have been caused by disputes between factions of local taxi associations. Our information is that seven men were killed and six men were injured and taken to hospital. Members of the South African Association Police have been sent to the scene to carry out investigations and thus get to the bottom of this crime. “
