Mikel Arteta has closed the door for William Saliba to leave Arsenal on loan from now until the close of today’s domestic transfer window.

The Frenchman was expected to be part of Arsenal’s first team this season but has yet to appear and it has been claimed that he needs to add some finishing touches to his defense.

He was expected to return to Saint Etienne on loan this summer, but the deal fell through in the closing hours of the international transfer window.

While he continues to fight to play for the Gunners, he has now been linked to a move to Brentford and Fulham.

Both teams would have offered him more playing time than he will have at Arsenal, however, it appears that Arteta has changed his mind.

Before Arsenal’s Premier League match against Manchester City, Arteta was asked if any other players will be leaving the club on loan before Friday, telling the club’s website: “Not at the moment.”

He was then asked if William Saliba will stay at the club this season, then he replied: “Yes.”

Saliba has appeared in the youth team of the club, but hopes to reach the level that Arteta wants to finally be able to play for the club.
