Real Madrid star Toni Kroos decided to take a look at Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on his Einfach Bad Luppen podcast this week.
The German World Cup winner, who hosts the podcast with his brother Felix, criticized Aubameyang for wearing a mask at the celebrations after scoring a goal for his team.
That, unsurprisingly, upset Arsenal fans as well as the former Borussia Dortmund star. Aubameyang replied to Kroos in Twitter where he stated that his celebration was for his son and that he would do it again in the future.
Aubameyang celebrations have always been eye-catching. His signature front jump, dance moves and famous handshake with Alexandre Lacazette often cause a sensation on social media, and the Arsenal star thoroughly enjoys it.
Kroos’s comments came out of nowhere this week. He also had a chance with Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann for his celebrations, which was also an unnecessary comment from one professional footballer to another.
This isn’t the first time that Kroos has been on the bad side of Arsenal fans. When Mesut Ozil announced his retirement from international football after allegedly facing discrimination from the German federation, the Real Madrid man called his former partner’s accusations “nonsense.” (Guardian)
Ozil did not respond to Kroos’ comments at the time, but the Arsenal man seized his opportunity now. He used Twitter to support Aubameyang’s masked celebration instead of endorsing his former international teammate’s comments.
The Gunners’ No. 10 tweeted a GIF of Aubameyang celebrating a goal while wearing a mask with the caption “Best Goal Celebration.” That message was clearly directed at Kroos and the Real Madrid man would not have been very happy with it.
