Sead Kolasinac has agreed to join Bundesliga side Schalke Loan for the remainder of the season, Arsenal announced Thursday.
The 27-year-old Bosnian defender will return to the club where he joined the youth organization and went on to become a first-team starter before moving on to the Premier League in June 2017.
Kolasinac’s loan is scheduled to begin on January 4. The winger has played 113 games for Arsenal.
Edu, Arsenal’s technical director, said on the club’s website: “Sead needs to play regularly, so we have decided together that returning to Germany with Schalke will benefit him at this time.”
“We will be in close contact with Sead and wish him great success for the remainder of the season with Schalke.”
Schalke are currently last in the Bundesliga with just four points and winless all season.
